What is a Sort Code and where do I obtain this information?

  • A 'Sort Code' is unique to banks located within the UK.
  • Consists of 6 numbers and displayed on cards as three pairs of digits, for example: 20-99-57 (see image below).
  • This code identifies both a bank and also the branch where an account is held.
